World Literature Class Syllabus and Resources

 World Literature Course Syllabus

This semester, we will be looking at World Literature. In case you don’t know (which is okay because I will teach you this), World Literature is the study of texts written by or about the people groups and cultures of the world. This includes literature across time periods and from all countries.

Our goal is to examine how literature communicates shared life experiences. Different cultures have similar stories because we share the human condition.

We will read both longer and shorter texts. Digital versions and excerpts will be available on our Google Classroom, but you are welcome to purchase these titles on your own if you’d like a printed copy.

These are the longer texts we will read together:

Night by Elie Wiesel

Animal Farm by George Orwell

Macbeth by William Shakespeare
